What I love however are the smaller pieces of artwork you see plastered everywhere you go, created by the inspired denizens of Gotham:
Michelle W. asked us in this week’s WordPress photo challenge to show a thing, a place or a person that’s a work of art to us. In New York City, everywhere you go you see beautiful works of art ranging in the form of tall buildings with their awe-inspiring architecture, stone or metal sculptures and statures, to the very design of the city itself with its intricate grid layout of its streets and avenues to the beautifully man-made parks.
What I love however are the smaller pieces of artwork you see plastered everywhere you go, created by the inspired denizens of Gotham: on the side of buildings, hydrants, fire escapes, windows, in the playground, and even on the very sidewalk we walk on. No matter where we are, New Yorkers in all five boroughs are treated to unique urban galleries.
All these pictures were taken after a trip to a school in Queens. Driving home, I literally had to make several stops in less than a one mile area to take these shots with my iPhone.
It made my commute a little longer but well worth it.
Some of those artworks are amazing.
This is really nice 🙂
Thank you Alice!
You are welcome! 🙂
I was waiting to see if someone from NY would provide some street and/sidewalk images. Thanks!
Thank you Rick! I have a lot more images but for this challenge, I wanted to restrict it to only one day in a specific borough (Brooklyn).
like the variety – and great for the challenge – 🙂
Thank you Yvette! I like the different styles depicted as well.
I didn’t know Wu Tang Clan Fans loved Mammuth ! Great pictures of street art. The best I saw in this challenge.
Thanks Iceman! I’ve been checking out other posters when I can (haven’t gotten to yours yet) and they’re pretty good!
Beautiful work of art @Nando! Very nice shots!
Great post. I also try to capture some graffiti when I’m on my way to work or other places. It makes the cities more alive.
