Bikes and Bicycling, a la France

A lone rider prepares for Le Tour de France.

Today the second snowstorm hit the northeast this week, with another coming our way this weekend. I can’t wait for spring-like weather to finally arrive. Unfortunately, according to Punxsutawney Phil, the blasted rodent is anticipating SIX more weeks of winter. damn. What does he know?

I just finished shoveling out my car and as I climb the stairs to my home, I see my parked bicycle with a fine sheen of dust accumulated on it. Until the days of carefree bike riding around the city, today’s post of bicycles both in motion and stationary all over France will have to suffice.

What I found highly interesting about this bike path is where it was placed. Very different from the way the US does it. Can you tell?

Yes, even the postman makes his job easier (and greener) with a bike in Ile-de-Brehat.

This is such a typical French bike, parked and locked in front of the owner’s door.
This bike has seen its fair share of riding. Instead of the junk yard, it's repurposed into decorative art in Locronan.

  1. Beautiful images… and I love bicycles 🙂

This is the best mode of transport for short distances especially in cities, right?

But unfortunately, most of India cities are not friendly to bicycles.

Would LOVE to read your comments but please forgive me if I'm unable to respond at times...
