Weekly Photo Challenge: Winter

Winter is my least favorite season as it brings in the cold and the occasional snow, causing havoc at times on the roads and at home. Shovels come out and the digging begins, salt and kitty litter is spread generously, and gas-powered snow blowers blare through the day, cascading flakes into the air. Still, it’s a time when everyone huddles close together, warm at home while sipping on frothy hot chocolate or some warm seasonal tea. For the adventurous types and young at heart, it’s a time for skiing, snowboarding, ice-skating and sledding down “treacherous” long hills. Winter ushers in … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Winter

She Still Believes in Santa Claus

A couple of years ago, I watched and listened in amazement as a 1st grader in my classroom argued with her 2nd grade classmates (I had a mixed class of 1st/2nd graders) that Santa Claus really existed. It was a rather amusing debate as this single girl tried to convince the three or four girls surrounding her that Santa was real. The arguments against his existence were quite brutal, offered by the prosecution as mere irrefutable fact, the words pummeling the tiny first grader almost to tears. That’s when she turned with those sad eyes and asked me if Santa … Continue reading She Still Believes in Santa Claus

Weekly Photo Challenge: Between

This has got to be the most photographed house in the Cotes-d’Amor region of France! While in the town of Plougrescant in Brittany, France, I saw this peculiar little house nestled in between these two giant rocks. I was totally amazed by it so I snapped away. Years later, I would see this house again in a beautiful photography book of France at my local Barnes & Noble store. I’ve also seen it countless times on the internet. So much for a unique and original picture. I guess I just dialed it in on this week’s challenge. Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Between

ATI Radeon HD 5770 and the 1st Gen.(2006) Mac Pro

In 2006 I decided to finally leave the world of Windows and the PC and embarked on a whole new adventure: I purchased my first Mac and dove head first into Apple’s streamlined and simple OS. I purchased a 1st generation Mac Pro with its new Intel Processor inside. It’s a decision that I have not regretted at all. I was glad to be rid of the frequent blue screens of death, buggy programs, unexpected shutdowns, viruses, crashes,¬†frozen screens, and a slew of other PC related problems. I’m a very competent and tech-savvy computer user, A+ trained and having attended … Continue reading ATI Radeon HD 5770 and the 1st Gen.(2006) Mac Pro

Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration

Ever since I was a child I’ve always looked up to the sky, dreaming that I would someday be a pilot. When I was in my early 20’s, I made those dreams a reality when I finally went to flight school. I wanted to be a helicopter pilot so I packed my things, gave up my jobs (I had two) and my NYC apartment and went to Alabama to learn how to fly. I attended the now defunct Alabama Aviation & Technical College (now part of Wallace college). In the three years that I lived in Alabama, my flying days … Continue reading Weekly Photo Challenge: Celebration
